THE LONG & SHORT OF #UNLEARNING

PART - I Do you think #learning is limited to application of knowledge already acquired by someone? Or does it have to do with looking at new things too? In every aspect of life, we come across models that have grown outdated or obsolete, from education to business, from relationships to careers. In order to embrace the new logic of value creation we have to learn it first. But learning isn't the problem. No. It is #unlearning that is the problem. Let's find out more about this on #Mangalmaza WHAT IS UNLEARNING ? Most of us think that unlearning is to do with forgetting what we had earlier learnt. But that's not it. In simple terms unlearning is to do away with the old to give way to the new. When we learn, we add new skills or knowledge to what we already know. When we unlearn, we step out side of what we already know and choose a different alternative. Most of it is to do with the myths and paradigms that we have been fed up on while growing up. WHY SHOULD WE UNLEARN ...

THE ART OF LEARNING

I know most of us here are confused, flabbergasted and maybe even clueless when it comes to things like #learning #unlearning #relearning and #upskilling . And this is what I want to talk about in #MangalMazaa , every Tuesday. Stay tuned for tips, tricks and more. To be doubly sure, I am going to start with what the dictionary says about these words. Learning – The acquisition of knowledge or skills through study, experience or by being taught. Unlearning – Discard (something learned, especially a bad habit or a false or an outdated information) from one’s memory. Relearning – To learn something again. Upskilling – To help an employee / subordinate with gaining additional skills or to learn additional skills related to one’s field of work. Seems quite simple, doesn’t it. But might not be as simple as it seems. So here’s my version of these 4 wonderful words which changed my life for good. Learning – Entering into a completely unknown area to find light and reflect on my a...

MIRROR ME!!!!

Guess what!!! Up for some #mangalmaza I have been meeting many wonderful species of people off late.   “Are you out of your mind? What are you even talking? How and when did you get to meet so many people sitting all the day on your bed? On Instagram? On Netflix? Or on Zoom?” That would have been a typical response from Amma for the earlier statement I made. Not her fault. She will only say that because that’s what she sees me doing all day (almost). But, it remains that I have met wonderful species of people out there, each one totally different from another and yet too similar. Would you be interested in meeting them too? What are you waiting for? Read on.   #thethinktank – Someone who is full of ideas thanks to the lockdown and is actually contemplating different ideas to make a business proposal out of this or may be even think of becoming a consultant who gives away thoughts out of the huge thinktank. Not sure if any of these thoughts will actually see the light of the d...

Lighting a Gas and #Gaslighting

It’s Ka Youbi .   Out for some serious fun?   Got to share this with you folks. Amidst the lockdown buzz and the #stayhome #staysafe motto, had to venture out with Amma to shop for something she had been wanting to get for a long time now. And me being me, was not the obliging type. But this time around, no excuses worked. I had to give up in front of her might. After all she is the “ LADY ” of the house. So we went out to the neighbourhood Kitchen Appliances store and exchanged our GasStove for a new one. Got a glass top in place of a steel one. I have been wondering ever since. Does it even make a food taste better on a glass top gas stove? What part of it adds flavour to the food being cooked – the fire, the burners or the glass top itself? Is it really worth putting in so much thought into a gas stove that is already home and is doing its job. When Amma asked me to make something to celebrate the homecoming of the gas stove, a thought crossed me. No!!! I am an excellent...
