THE LONG & SHORT OF #UNLEARNING

PART - I Do you think #learning is limited to application of knowledge already acquired by someone? Or does it have to do with looking at new things too? In every aspect of life, we come across models that have grown outdated or obsolete, from education to business, from relationships to careers. In order to embrace the new logic of value creation we have to learn it first. But learning isn't the problem. No. It is #unlearning that is the problem. Let's find out more about this on #Mangalmaza WHAT IS UNLEARNING ? Most of us think that unlearning is to do with forgetting what we had earlier learnt. But that's not it. In simple terms unlearning is to do away with the old to give way to the new. When we learn, we add new skills or knowledge to what we already know. When we unlearn, we step out side of what we already know and choose a different alternative. Most of it is to do with the myths and paradigms that we have been fed up on while growing up. WHY SHOULD WE UNLEARN

THE ART OF LEARNING

I know most of us here are confused, flabbergasted and maybe even clueless when it comes to things like #learning #unlearning #relearning and #upskilling . And this is what I want to talk about in #MangalMazaa , every Tuesday. Stay tuned for tips, tricks and more. To be doubly sure, I am going to start with what the dictionary says about these words. Learning – The acquisition of knowledge or skills through study, experience or by being taught. Unlearning – Discard (something learned, especially a bad habit or a false or an outdated information) from one’s memory. Relearning – To learn something again. Upskilling – To help an employee / subordinate with gaining additional skills or to learn additional skills related to one’s field of work. Seems quite simple, doesn’t it. But might not be as simple as it seems. So here’s my version of these 4 wonderful words which changed my life for good. Learning – Entering into a completely unknown area to find light and reflect on my attit

To BEAT or not to BEAT!!!

In the year 2018, a well known print media put up an article whose headline was this - " 88% of marginalised children beaten at school; 91% parents ok with it. " It is called the ' CORPORAL PUNISHMENT ' and comes into existence when a teacher picks up the extreme way of disciplining a student. I am sure most of us as teachers and as parents will disagree to this kind of behaviour and maybe few of us will be ok with using stricter ways of disciplining children both as parents and as teachers. Are you of the opinion that Sex Education should be a must at school or do you think otherwise? Have you ever come across the sensationalism of media personally? How was that experience? Or are you someone who would rather hang yourself before being caught in the claws of media? If you are wondering why I am putting up such questions, it's because during the week I came across a teacher who had been through all this and made me think more about it. #LIFEGOALS - It's abo

The Mystery about the mysterious....

In today's #DigitalDabba , I would want to introduce you to two very strong and meticulous characters who have taught me a thing or two over this last weekend. Inspector Maruti Nagargoje and Kevin Thomas. People who have the power to make us think about what we are doing, where we are heading to and how we are going to end up. You might feel that I am kind of obsessed with crime and mystery thrillers which is partly right. It seems to be the current flavour of the season for me. #LIFEGOALS - Inspector Maruti Nagargoje is assigned a strange case which on the face of it seems like a simple accident of an elderly person who stays with his son and daughter-in-law. He raises all sorts of doubts and queries and confuses the rest of them to think it could have been a suicide or even a murder attempt. He makes sure he is on the nerves of everyone involved till the end. On the other hand Mr. Kevin Thomas works is a Cyber Security Engineering, a top paying role in the current digital worl
